My Obsession with Cafés

Ever since I started college and got to know my boyfriend, we began exploring every corner of Chiayi. Among our adventures, visiting cafés with unique styles became our favorite activity. Sitting in a charming café, surrounded by artistic decor and distinct aesthetics, sipping a freshly served specialty latte, and digging into a slice of cake with a spoon—these afternoons felt perfect to me.

At first, I didn’t understand the appeal of visiting cafés. Weren’t they just places to grab a quick coffee and leave? However, as I explored them with him, I gradually realized that visiting cafés was more than just a pastime—it was a lifestyle.
These spaces became our secret hideaways. We would chat, make DIY crafts together, and even endure the pain of studying for exams there. Once, we crocheted together and created unique coasters, leaving a tangible keepsake of those moments.
The bittersweet aroma of coffee and the deliciousness of desserts made time slip away unnoticed. We would even compete to see who could take the best photos of coffee and desserts, making each afternoon fun and fulfilling.

Our little crafts

He loves Sicilian coffee (西西里), which has become his go-to order, while I prefer tiramisu(提拉米蘇).
We discovered that different cafés each have their own take on Sicilian coffee—some with rich bubbles, others with a citrusy aroma, and even versions with a hint of alcohol.
Similarly, tiramisu varied widely—some came with biscuits, some with rich cream fillings, and others had a particularly refreshing taste.
Each café also had a unique vibe, ranging from vintage to modern, with some even featuring collections of Pokémon figurines hidden in corners, showcasing the personality of the owners.

As he graduated from college and we transitioned to a long-distance relationship, we could no longer explore cafés together as often. However, I am simply obsessed with going to cafés—literally no one can stop me. There were still so many places on our list in Chiayi that we hadn’t visited. So, I began my own café adventures.
Every weekend, I’d choose a new spot, order a cup of coffee and a dessert, and open my laptop to work on assignments.

Before heading out on my motorcycle (parmesan), I carefully plan my route—where I’ll have lunch, which café I’ll visit, researching the specialties of the café, and then figuring out what assignments I need to complete. Lastly, I often stop by Costco to buy groceries.
In the afternoons, the pressure of schoolwork seemed to melt away, and every time I tried a new flavor, the unforgettable sip of latte would make my day!

In truth, I find immense joy in these weekly little journeys.
Don't hesitate to call me the queen of cafes. Exploring new places is so exciting! It also serves as motivation for me to work hard during the weekdays.

Crochet update

As usual, let me share my latest crochet projects!

block party sweater

I made with mesh and solid stitches to create the effect of blocks and blocks together.

fingerless gloves

I made these for my mom to give her as birthday present, with her favorite color- purple.

Green apple

Recently, I am really a big fan of apples.

There’s a little story behind this project. One day, I encountered a ladybug resting on my bike. Surprisingly, it stayed tightly on the bike even as I rode it to class. After class, I noticed it was no longer on the bike. To my surprise, I found it sitting on my dress instead! Carefully, I rode back to my dorm, thinking maybe I could keep it as a pet.

Once I was back, I gently let it walk onto a leaf. Unfortunately, it either fell to the ground or flew away, and I couldn’t find it anymore.

Because it’s winter, there’s nothing cozier than making my own sweaters! I recently bought more yarn to make even more projects—there’s no doubt I’m completely addicted to knitting and crocheting.

I’m so excited for Christmas—it’s really just around the corner! Though it’s a bit sad that all my finals are on 12/24 and 12/25, feeling the Christmas vibe is still the most wonderful feeling of the year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! May all our exams go smoothly—our hard work and effort will surely pay off!🎄✨
